Apple Dapple Cake is a delicious dessert made with fresh apples, sugars, and spices, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 3 cups peeled and chopped apples (about 3 medium apples)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- 1 cup raisins (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vegetable oil. Mix well until combined.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the apple mixture, stirring until fully incorporated.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the nuts and raisins if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg to the dry ingredients.
- You can also substitute half of the oil with unsweetened applesauce for a lighter version.
- Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful dessert!
