Description
Bacon Cauliflower Schnitzel is a crispy and delicious dish made with cauliflower slices, coated in a flavorful breading and topped with crumbled bacon.
Ingredients
- 1 large head of cauliflower, cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
- 4 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the cauliflower by cutting it into thick slices. Steam the slices for about 5 minutes until slightly tender, then let them cool.
- In a bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs until well combined.
- Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Dip each cauliflower slice first into the flour mixture, shaking off excess, then into the beaten eggs, and finally into the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure the crumbs adhere.
- Heat about 1/4 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded cauliflower slices in batches, frying for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fried schnitzels and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While still hot, sprinkle with crumbled bacon.
- Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley.
Notes
- For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour and breadcrumbs with almond flour and gluten-free breadcrumbs.
- Add grated Parmesan cheese to the breadcrumb mixture for an extra layer of flavor.
