Description
A delicious twist on a classic grilled cheese sandwich, featuring creamy guacamole and crispy bacon.
Ingredients
- 4 slices of sourdough bread
- 4 ounces of cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 small tomato, diced
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- In a bowl, mash the avocado with a fork. Stir in lime juice, diced tomato, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined. Set aside.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. While the skillet heats, butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
- Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet. Layer half of the shredded cheddar cheese on each slice.
- Spread half of the guacamole mixture over the cheese on each slice, then sprinkle crumbled bacon on top.
- Top with the remaining cheddar cheese and place the other two slices of bread on top, buttered side up.
- Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet, let cool for a minute, then slice and serve.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños to the guacamole mixture.
- Substitute the cheddar cheese with pepper jack for an extra layer of flavor.
