Description

Bang Bang Cauliflower is a crispy and irresistible treat made from cauliflower florets coated in a flavorful batter and tossed in a spicy Bang Bang sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Pour the buttermilk into a separate bowl. Dip each cauliflower floret into the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture.
  4. Place the coated florets on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  5. While the cauliflower is baking, prepare the Bang Bang sauce by mixing the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lime juice in a small bowl until well combined.
  6. Once the cauliflower is done baking, remove it from the oven and toss it in the Bang Bang sauce until evenly coated.
  7. Return the coated cauliflower to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes to crisp up the sauce.
  8. Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped green onions, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend and use gluten-free panko breadcrumbs.
  • Add a sprinkle of sesame seeds or chopped cilantro for extra flavor and presentation.
