Description
Bang Bang Cauliflower is a crispy and irresistible treat made from cauliflower florets coated in a flavorful batter and tossed in a spicy Bang Bang sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 medium head of cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Pour the buttermilk into a separate bowl. Dip each cauliflower floret into the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture.
- Place the coated florets on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.
- While the cauliflower is baking, prepare the Bang Bang sauce by mixing the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lime juice in a small bowl until well combined.
- Once the cauliflower is done baking, remove it from the oven and toss it in the Bang Bang sauce until evenly coated.
- Return the coated cauliflower to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes to crisp up the sauce.
- Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped green onions, and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend and use gluten-free panko breadcrumbs.
- Add a sprinkle of sesame seeds or chopped cilantro for extra flavor and presentation.
