Description
A quick and flavorful Beef and Black Bean Stir Fry that combines tender beef with black beans and fresh vegetables, all coated in a savory sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper (any color), sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- ¼ cup beef broth or water
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, black pepper, cornstarch, and beef broth. Stir until smooth and set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and stir-fry for about 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining oil. Stir-fry the onion and bell pepper for about 2–3 minutes until slightly tender. Add garlic and ginger and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the black beans and return the cooked beef to the pan.
- Pour the prepared sauce into the pan and stir well. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything.
- Drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
- Feel free to add other vegetables like broccoli or snap peas for extra nutrition.
- Adjust the level of spiciness by adding chili flakes if desired.
- This dish can be served over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
