Biscuits and Gravy Casserole is a hearty and comforting breakfast that combines layers of fluffy biscuits and creamy sausage gravy baked to golden perfection. Perfect for brunch or a cozy family meal, this Southern classic is easy to prepare and guaranteed to satisfy.

Ingredients

  • 2 (16 oz) cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter (optional)
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare the Dish:
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Bake the Biscuit Base:
    • Cut one package of biscuits into quarters and arrange them evenly in the dish.
    • Bake for 10 minutes or until slightly golden.
  3. Cook the Sausage Gravy:
    • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the sausage, breaking it into crumbles.
    • Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
    • Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until thickened.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Assemble the Casserole:
    • Pour the sausage gravy over the baked biscuit base.
    • Top with remaining uncooked biscuits.
  5. Bake the Casserole:
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the top biscuits are golden brown.
  6. Optional Garnish:
    • Brush melted butter over the biscuits and sprinkle with parsley for added flavor.
  7. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Add shredded cheese or sautéed vegetables for extra flavor.
  • Cover with foil during baking if the biscuits brown too quickly.

Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for 3 months
