Description

Blackberry Clafoutis is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert featuring fresh blackberries baked in a custard-like batter.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round pie dish or a similar baking dish with butter.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, and melted butter until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the flour and salt to the mixture, whisking until smooth and free of lumps.
  4. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  5. Evenly distribute the blackberries over the batter in the dish.
  6. Pour the remaining batter over the blackberries, ensuring they are mostly covered.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the clafoutis is puffed and golden brown around the edges and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar, if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute half of the milk with heavy cream.
