Description
A delicious and healthy dish featuring fresh broccoli sautéed in garlic sauce and topped with crispy bacon.
Ingredients
- 2 heads of fresh broccoli, cut into florets
- 4 slices of bacon, chopped
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the rendered fat in the skillet.
- Add the olive oil to the skillet with the bacon fat. Once hot, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir to coat them in the garlic and oil mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cover the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the broccoli is tender but still bright green.
- Remove the lid, add the cooked bacon back to the skillet, and drizzle with lemon juice. Toss everything together to combine.
- If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and use vegetable broth for added flavor.
- Add a handful of cherry tomatoes or sliced bell peppers for extra color and nutrients.
