Description

A delicious and healthy dish featuring fresh broccoli sautéed in garlic sauce and topped with crispy bacon.

Ingredients

  • 2 heads of fresh broccoli, cut into florets
  • 4 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the rendered fat in the skillet.
  2. Add the olive oil to the skillet with the bacon fat. Once hot, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir to coat them in the garlic and oil mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cover the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the broccoli is tender but still bright green.
  5. Remove the lid, add the cooked bacon back to the skillet, and drizzle with lemon juice. Toss everything together to combine.
  6. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and use vegetable broth for added flavor.
  • Add a handful of cherry tomatoes or sliced bell peppers for extra color and nutrients.
