Description

A quick and healthy stir fry featuring broccoli and mushrooms, perfect for a nutritious meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (any color)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional for thickening)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion and garlic, and sauté for about 2 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms and bell pepper, and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the mushrooms are tender.
  4. Stir in the broccoli florets and cook for another 3-5 minutes, until the broccoli is bright green and tender-crisp.
  5. Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil, stirring to combine. If you prefer a thicker sauce, add the cornstarch mixture and stir until the sauce thickens.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For added protein, consider adding tofu, chicken, or shrimp to the stir fry. Cook the protein first, then set aside before adding the vegetables.
  • Experiment with different vegetables like snap peas, carrots, or zucchini for a colorful and nutritious twist.
