Description

Buffalo Cauliflower Steaks are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional buffalo wings, made with cauliflower and coated in a spicy buffalo sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cauliflower
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup buffalo sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Remove the leaves from the cauliflower and slice the head into 1-inch thick steaks. You should get about 3-4 steaks from one head.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, water, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Dip each cauliflower steak into the batter, ensuring both sides are well coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.
  5. Place the coated cauliflower steaks on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil over the top of each steak.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and brush each steak generously with buffalo sauce.
  8. Return the cauliflower steaks to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  9. Once done, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add cayenne pepper to the batter or use a hotter buffalo sauce.
  • Serve with a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping, or top with sliced green onions for added flavor.
