Description
Buffalo Cauliflower Steaks are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional buffalo wings, made with cauliflower and coated in a spicy buffalo sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 large head of cauliflower
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buffalo sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Remove the leaves from the cauliflower and slice the head into 1-inch thick steaks. You should get about 3-4 steaks from one head.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, water, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- Dip each cauliflower steak into the batter, ensuring both sides are well coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.
- Place the coated cauliflower steaks on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil over the top of each steak.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and brush each steak generously with buffalo sauce.
- Return the cauliflower steaks to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
- Once done, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add cayenne pepper to the batter or use a hotter buffalo sauce.
- Serve with a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping, or top with sliced green onions for added flavor.
