Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Cabbage and Ground Beef Skillet recipe that combines savory ground beef with tender cabbage and spices for a hearty meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped (about 4 cups)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  5. Stir in chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes (with juice), Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  6. Cover the skillet and reduce heat to low. Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and wilted.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For added flavor, try incorporating a teaspoon of Italian seasoning or a splash of hot sauce for a kick.
  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • For a heartier meal, serve over cooked rice or quinoa.
