Description
Cajun Voodoo Fries are a delicious and flavorful twist on traditional fries, seasoned with Cajun spices and topped with cheese, sour cream, and green onions.
Ingredients
- 3 large russet potatoes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick, to create fries.
- In a large bowl, toss the potato strips with vegetable oil, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt until evenly coated.
- Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Once the fries are done, remove them from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the oven and drizzle with sour cream. Top with chopped green onions and crumbled bacon if using. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add more cayenne pepper or serve with a spicy dipping sauce.
- Try using sweet potatoes instead of russet potatoes for a different flavor and added nutrients.
