Description
Caramel Apple Bombs are a delightful fall treat featuring apple wedges wrapped in crescent roll dough and drizzled with homemade caramel sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 large apples, cored and cut into wedges
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine granulated sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 3-5 minutes until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Let cool slightly.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add brown sugar and chopped pecans if using, and stir to combine.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Place a wedge of apple at the wide end of each triangle, then drizzle a teaspoon of the caramel sauce over the apple.
- Roll the dough around the apple wedge, starting from the wide end and tucking in the sides as you go to seal the apple inside. Place the bombs seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the baked bombs before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or ginger to the caramel sauce.
- Substitute the apples with pears or peaches for a different fruity twist.
