Description

A delicious dessert combining caramel, apples, and pecans in a warm cobbler.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups peeled and sliced apples (about 4 medium apples)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are well coated.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the chopped pecans, flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture is crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle this topping evenly over the apple mixture in the baking dish.
  7. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the topping, ensuring it covers as much as possible.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  9. Let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a twist, try adding a pinch of ginger or cloves to the apple mixture for extra warmth.
  • You can substitute walnuts for pecans if you prefer a different nut flavor.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert!
