Description

A decadent dessert that combines rich chocolate cake with caramel and chocolate sauces, topped with whipped cream and pecans.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup chocolate sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • Extra pecans for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth (the batter will be thin).
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  7. Using the handle of a wooden spoon or a straw, poke holes all over the top of the cake.
  8. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the warm cake, allowing it to seep into the holes. Let the cake cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, spread the whipped topping evenly over the cake.
  10. Drizzle the chocolate sauce on top and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
  11. For best flavor, refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate cocoa powder instead of regular cocoa powder.
  • Add a layer of sliced bananas or strawberries on top of the whipped topping for a fruity twist.
