Description
A delicious gourmet toast topped with caramelized onions and creamy Brie cheese, perfect for appetizers or a light meal.
Ingredients
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces Brie cheese, sliced
- 1 French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
- Honey for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until the onions are soft and caramelized.
- Stir in the balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet. Top each slice with a generous piece of Brie cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and top each toast with a spoonful of the caramelized onions. Sprinkle fresh thyme leaves on top if using.
- Drizzle with honey if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- For added flavor, try adding a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes before baking for a spicy kick.
- Substitute the Brie with goat cheese or feta for a different taste profile.
