Description
A delicious and creamy casserole featuring fresh green beans, crispy bacon, and melted cheddar cheese, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 6 slices of bacon, chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup French fried onions
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels, leaving about 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the skillet.
- Add the green beans to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked green beans, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the French fried onions on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute turkey bacon for regular bacon.
- You can also add cooked chicken or turkey for extra protein.
- If you prefer a vegetarian option, replace the bacon with sautéed mushrooms for added flavor.
