Description

A delicious twist on the classic green bean casserole, featuring cheesy goodness and crispy bacon.

Ingredients

  • 2 (14.5-ounce) cans green beans, drained
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels, leaving about 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained green beans, cooked bacon, sautéed onion and garlic, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly coated.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the crispy fried onions on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the onions are golden brown.
  8. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream and use turkey bacon instead of regular bacon.
  • You can also add a cup of cooked and shredded chicken for extra protein.
