Description

A delicious and creamy dish featuring fresh asparagus, crispy bacon, and melted Gruyere cheese, perfect for a side or main dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Remove from heat.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir in the sautéed garlic and half of the Gruyere cheese.
  5. Place the trimmed asparagus in a baking dish and drizzle with olive oil. Toss to coat evenly.
  6. Pour the cream mixture over the asparagus, then sprinkle the cooked bacon on top.
  7. Top with the remaining Gruyere cheese and the grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the asparagus is tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or a low-fat cream alternative.
  • You can also add cherry tomatoes or sliced mushrooms for extra flavor and nutrition.
