Ingredients
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 large egg
- 1 batch garlic butter
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 3/4 cups unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/2 cup warm water
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, mix warm water (110°F or 45°C) with sugar and yeast.
- Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and Italian seasoning.
- Add the activated yeast mixture, warm milk, and one beaten egg.
- Knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled.
- Make the Garlic Butter Spread:
- In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley.
- Stir until well combined.
- Roll Out and Layer the Dough:
- Roll out the risen dough into a large rectangle (1/4 inch thick).
- Spread garlic butter mixture evenly over the surface.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese over the buttered dough.
- Shape the Cruffins:
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, like a cinnamon roll.
- Cut the log lengthwise to expose the layers.
- Twist each half into a spiral and place in greased muffin tins.
