Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups frozen hash browns (thawed)
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture, thawed hash browns, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, 1/2 cup of the cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix the milk with the remaining cheddar cheese and pour it over the casserole.
- If using, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top for added crunch.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the casserole is bubbly and golden brown on top.
- Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
- To make it a complete meal, toss in some frozen mixed vegetables like peas and carrots before baking.
