Description
A delicious and tangy chicken dish cooked in a flavorful orange sauce, perfect for a family dinner.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed if possible)
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken breasts to the skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth. Gradually add this mixture to the sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens (about 2-3 minutes).
- Return the chicken to the skillet, spoon the sauce over the top, and transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
- Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, increase the cornstarch to 1.5 tablespoons.
- Serve over steamed rice or quinoa to soak up the delicious sauce.
- You can also add vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli to the skillet for a complete meal.
