Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
- 1 cup carrots, julienned
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili paste (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the sliced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the shredded cabbage and julienned carrots, cooking for an additional 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
- In a small bowl, mix together the rice vinegar, soy sauce, chili paste, sugar, black pepper, and white pepper. Pour this mixture over the cooked vegetables.
- Stir well to combine and cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
- For added protein, consider tossing in some cooked chicken or tofu.
- To enhance the flavor, try adding a splash of sesame oil just before serving.
