Ingredients
- 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
- In the prepared baking dish, pour the dry chocolate cake mix evenly across the bottom.
- Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk over the cake mix, ensuring it covers as much of the surface as possible.
- Pour the caramel sauce over the condensed milk layer.
- Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly on top.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the vanilla extract. Drizzle this mixture over the entire cake, making sure to cover as much of the surface as possible.
- If using, sprinkle the chopped pecans on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the edges are bubbly and the center is set.
- Allow the cake to cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving. Serve warm, optionally topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of instant coffee granules to the melted butter before drizzling it over the cake.
- For a fun twist, substitute the chocolate cake mix with a vanilla or yellow cake mix and use butterscotch sauce instead of caramel for a different flavor profile.
