Description
A delicious layered dessert featuring chocolate pudding, whipped cream, caramel sauce, and chocolate cake, topped with chocolate chips and pecans.
Ingredients
- 2 cups chocolate pudding (prepared)
- 1 cup whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup chopped pecans (toasted if desired)
- 1 package (12 oz) chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients to prepare)
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the chocolate cake according to package instructions. Allow it to cool completely, then cut it into bite-sized pieces.
- In a large bowl, combine the chocolate pudding and vanilla extract. Gently fold in half of the whipped cream until well combined.
- In a trifle bowl or a large glass dish, layer half of the chocolate cake pieces at the bottom.
- Drizzle with half of the caramel sauce and sprinkle with half of the chopped pecans.
- Spread half of the chocolate pudding mixture over the cake layer, followed by half of the remaining whipped cream.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Top the trifle with the remaining whipped cream, chocolate chips, and a drizzle of caramel sauce.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate cake mix instead of regular chocolate.
- You can substitute the pecans with walnuts or almonds for a different nutty taste.
