Description

A delicious layered dessert featuring chocolate pudding, whipped cream, caramel sauce, and chocolate cake, topped with chocolate chips and pecans.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups chocolate pudding (prepared)
  • 1 cup whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (toasted if desired)
  • 1 package (12 oz) chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients to prepare)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chocolate cake according to package instructions. Allow it to cool completely, then cut it into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate pudding and vanilla extract. Gently fold in half of the whipped cream until well combined.
  3. In a trifle bowl or a large glass dish, layer half of the chocolate cake pieces at the bottom.
  4. Drizzle with half of the caramel sauce and sprinkle with half of the chopped pecans.
  5. Spread half of the chocolate pudding mixture over the cake layer, followed by half of the remaining whipped cream.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  7. Top the trifle with the remaining whipped cream, chocolate chips, and a drizzle of caramel sauce.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate cake mix instead of regular chocolate.
