Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup cookie dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the vanilla extract and egg until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and cookie dough until evenly distributed.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a rope about 12 inches long.
- Twist two ropes together and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining dough.
- Brush each twist with the egg wash for a shiny finish.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding 1/4 cup of chopped nuts or a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking.
- You can substitute the semi-sweet chocolate chips with white chocolate or dark chocolate for a different taste.
