Ingredients

  • 2 cups brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ounce dark chocolate, grated (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, combine the cooled espresso and coffee liqueur (if using). Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  3. In another bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  4. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
  5. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
  6. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9×9-inch dish.
  7. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  8. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  9. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  10. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with grated dark chocolate.
