Description

A delightful and moist cinnamon swirl apple bread that combines the sweetness of apples with a rich cinnamon flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream until fully combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon to create the cinnamon swirl mixture.
  8. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon swirl mixture over the batter. Pour the remaining batter on top and finish with the rest of the cinnamon swirl mixture. Use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon mixture into the batter.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
  • You can also substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier twist.
