Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Classic Tuna Casserole without canned soup, perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups uncooked egg noodles
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 can (12 ounces) tuna, drained and flaked
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Stir in the frozen peas and cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked noodles, sautéed vegetables, flaked tuna, sour cream, cheddar cheese, Dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix until well combined.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the melted butter. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the casserole.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
  9. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, substitute whole wheat noodles and Greek yogurt for sour cream.
  • Add diced bell peppers or mushrooms for extra veggies and flavor.
