Description
A delicious and flavorful side dish made with fresh green beans, bacon, and a blend of seasonings.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
- In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Add the trimmed green beans to the skillet, along with the salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine.
- Pour in the chicken broth and cover the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the green beans are tender but still crisp.
- Remove the lid and stir in the cooked bacon, olive oil, and apple cider vinegar. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon and use olive oil for sautéing, adding smoked paprika for a similar flavor.
- Add sliced almonds or walnuts for extra crunch and flavor.
