Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring about 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the diced potatoes and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. In the same saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture is lightly golden.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder (if using) to the sauce, stirring to combine.
  5. Stir in the cooked potatoes and frozen peas, mixing well to coat them in the creamy sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the peas are heated through.
  6. Serve warm as a side dish.
