Description

Crispy Bang Bang Shrimp is a delicious and crunchy shrimp dish coated in a flavorful panko breadcrumb mixture and served with a spicy Bang Bang sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (for Bang Bang sauce)
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce (for Bang Bang sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste, for Bang Bang sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice (for Bang Bang sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lime juice to make the Bang Bang sauce. Mix well and set aside.
  2. In another bowl, pour the buttermilk over the shrimp and let it marinate for about 15 minutes.
  3. In a separate shallow dish, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, then dip back into the buttermilk, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  5. In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the shrimp in batches, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve the crispy shrimp drizzled with the Bang Bang sauce or toss them in the sauce for an even coating.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, consider adding crushed cornflakes to the panko mixture.
  • You can also substitute shrimp with chicken tenders for a different twist on this dish.
  • Adjust the heat level of the Bang Bang sauce by adding more or less sriracha to suit your taste.
