Description
Crispy Bang Bang Shrimp is a delicious and crunchy shrimp dish coated in a flavorful panko breadcrumb mixture and served with a spicy Bang Bang sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (for Bang Bang sauce)
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce (for Bang Bang sauce)
- 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste, for Bang Bang sauce)
- 1 teaspoon lime juice (for Bang Bang sauce)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lime juice to make the Bang Bang sauce. Mix well and set aside.
- In another bowl, pour the buttermilk over the shrimp and let it marinate for about 15 minutes.
- In a separate shallow dish, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, then dip back into the buttermilk, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the shrimp in batches, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve the crispy shrimp drizzled with the Bang Bang sauce or toss them in the sauce for an even coating.
Notes
- For extra crunch, consider adding crushed cornflakes to the panko mixture.
- You can also substitute shrimp with chicken tenders for a different twist on this dish.
- Adjust the heat level of the Bang Bang sauce by adding more or less sriracha to suit your taste.
