Description

Crispy Cabbage Fritters served with a delicious garlicky dip, perfect as a snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups finely shredded green cabbage
  • 1/2 cup grated carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • For the garlicky dip:
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrots, and chopped green onions. Mix well.
  2. Add the flour, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika to the vegetable mixture. Stir until everything is well combined.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Using a spoon, drop heaping tablespoons of the cabbage mixture into the hot oil, flattening them slightly with the back of the spoon. Fry in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the fritters from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  6. For the garlicky dip, mix together the Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a small bowl until smooth.
  7. Serve the crispy cabbage fritters warm with the garlicky dip on the side.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, try adding a tablespoon of cornmeal to the batter.
  • You can substitute the Greek yogurt with sour cream for a different flavor in the dip.
  • Enjoy experimenting with different herbs and spices in the fritter mix!
