Description
Crispy Cheesy Mozzarella Onion Rings are a delicious and crunchy snack, perfect for parties or as a side dish.
Ingredients
- 2 large onions, sliced into 1/2-inch rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Begin by heating vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs until well combined.
- Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Dip each onion ring first into the flour mixture, coating it evenly, then into the beaten eggs, and finally into the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Once all onion rings are coated, carefully place them in the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- While the onion rings are still hot, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over them and let it melt slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
- Try using different types of cheese, such as cheddar or pepper jack, for a unique flavor twist.
