Description
Crispy Fried Cabbage with Sausage is a quick and delicious dish that combines the savory flavors of smoked sausage with tender, slightly crispy cabbage, making it a perfect meal for any day.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped (about 4 cups)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and stir well. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and slightly crispy.
- Stir in the minced garlic, paprika, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.
- Return the cooked sausage to the skillet and mix well. Drizzle with apple cider vinegar and stir to combine. Cook for another 2 minutes to heat through.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute the sausage with plant-based sausage or omit it entirely and add more vegetables like bell peppers or carrots.
- Add a sprinkle of shredded cheese on top just before serving for an extra layer of flavor.
