Description
Crispy Fried Mushrooms are a delicious and crunchy appetizer made from fresh button mushrooms coated in a flavorful batter and fried to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh button mushrooms, cleaned and stems trimmed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until well combined.
- Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Dip each mushroom into the flour mixture, coating it evenly. Shake off any excess flour.
- Next, dip the floured mushroom into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.
- Finally, roll the mushroom in the breadcrumbs until fully coated. Repeat with all mushrooms.
- In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Carefully add the coated mushrooms to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried mushrooms to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture or serve with a spicy dipping sauce.
- Try using different types of mushrooms, such as portobello or shiitake, for varied flavors and textures.
