Description

Crispy Fried Pickle Spears are a delicious and crunchy snack that are perfect for any occasion. These spears are coated in a flavorful batter and fried until golden brown, making them an irresistible treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dill pickle spears, drained and patted dry
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko or regular)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs until well combined.
  4. Place the breadcrumbs in a third shallow bowl.
  5. Dredge each pickle spear in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  6. Dip the floured pickle spear into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.
  7. Finally, coat the pickle spear in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  8. Carefully place the coated pickle spears in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried pickles to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  10. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or spicy mayo.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding a teaspoon of dill weed to the flour mixture.
  • You can also substitute the dill pickles with bread and butter pickles for a sweeter twist.
