Description

Crispy Potato Nests Filled with Cheesy Delights Await!

Ingredients

  • 2 large russet potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
  • Cooking oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, flour, and beaten egg. Mix until well combined.
  3. Using your hands, form small nests by taking a handful of the potato mixture and shaping it into a cup on the baking sheet. Make sure the nests are about 3 inches in diameter and have a hollow center.
  4. Bake the potato nests in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  5. While the nests are baking, mix the shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream in a bowl. Add chopped green onions if desired.
  6. Once the nests are baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Carefully fill each nest with the cheesy mixture.
  7. Return the filled nests to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños to the cheese mixture.
  • You can substitute the cheddar cheese with mozzarella or pepper jack for different flavor profiles.
