Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh salmon fillet, skin removed
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 ripe avocado, diced
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1/4 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice the salmon fillet into 1-inch thick pieces. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Brush the mixture onto the salmon pieces.
  3. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the salmon pieces and sear for about 30 seconds on each side until golden brown.
  4. Remove from heat and sprinkle sesame seeds on all sides. Let the salmon cool for a few minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
  5. For the avocado salsa, combine diced avocado, tomato, red onion, cilantro, lime juice, and salt in a bowl. Gently mix to combine.
  6. To serve, arrange the sliced salmon on a plate and top with avocado salsa.

Notes

  • For added crunch, serve with crispy wonton chips.
  • You can substitute the salmon with tuna for a different flavor profile.
