Description
Crispy Teriyaki Tofu Cubes are a delicious and healthy dish made with marinated tofu, perfect for a quick meal or snack.
Ingredients
- 14 ounces firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to create the teriyaki marinade.
- Place the tofu cubes in the marinade and let them soak for at least 15 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even coating.
- After marinating, remove the tofu cubes from the marinade and toss them in cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes in a single layer and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Transfer the crispy tofu to the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are extra crispy.
- While the tofu is baking, reduce the remaining marinade in a small saucepan over medium heat until it thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the tofu from the oven and drizzle with the thickened teriyaki sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the tofu overnight.
- Try adding vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli to the skillet for a complete meal.
