Description

Crispy Teriyaki Tofu Cubes are a delicious and healthy dish made with marinated tofu, perfect for a quick meal or snack.

Ingredients

  • 14 ounces firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to create the teriyaki marinade.
  4. Place the tofu cubes in the marinade and let them soak for at least 15 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even coating.
  5. After marinating, remove the tofu cubes from the marinade and toss them in cornstarch until evenly coated.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes in a single layer and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  7. Transfer the crispy tofu to the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are extra crispy.
  8. While the tofu is baking, reduce the remaining marinade in a small saucepan over medium heat until it thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes.
  9. Remove the tofu from the oven and drizzle with the thickened teriyaki sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the tofu overnight.
  • Try adding vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli to the skillet for a complete meal.
