Ingredients
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced (button or cremini)
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked rice or noodles for serving
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced onion and cook for about 2 minutes until it begins to soften.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the broccoli florets and sliced mushrooms to the skillet, stirring frequently for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Add the sliced red bell pepper and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil, stirring to coat the vegetables evenly.
- Add the cornstarch mixture to the skillet and stir well until the sauce thickens, about 1 minute.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, then remove from heat.
- Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
Notes
- For added protein, toss in some cooked chicken, shrimp, or tofu during step 4.
- Experiment with different vegetables like snap peas, carrots, or baby corn for variety.
