Description
A delicious and easy recipe for spinach balls that are perfectly baked to a golden brown, making them a great appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped (or 1 cup frozen spinach, thawed and drained)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped spinach, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, onion, garlic, eggs, salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place the spinach balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the spinach balls to help them brown.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a creamier texture, add 1/4 cup of ricotta cheese to the mixture.
- If you prefer a crunchier exterior, broil the spinach balls for an additional 2-3 minutes after baking.
