Description

Firecracker Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger Stuffed Onion Bombs are a delicious and unique dish that combines the flavors of a cheeseburger with the sweetness of onions, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet onions
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 ounces cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. Cut the tops off the onions and carefully scoop out the insides, creating a hollow space. Leave about 1/2 inch of onion around the edges. Reserve the scooped-out onion for later use.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  4. Add the reserved onion pieces to the meat mixture and stir in the breadcrumbs and parsley (if using).
  5. Stuff each hollowed onion with the beef mixture, packing it in tightly.
  6. Place the stuffed onions upright in a baking dish. Drizzle barbecue sauce over the top of each onion.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and the onions are tender.
  8. Let the onion bombs cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños to the meat mixture.
  • You can also substitute the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
