Florida Shrimp Pie is a delicious seafood dish featuring shrimp, corn, and a creamy filling baked in a pie crust.
Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 cup corn kernels (fresh or frozen)
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and diced bell pepper, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Add the shrimp, corn, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until the shrimp turn pink, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, eggs, and lemon juice until well combined.
- Spread the shrimp mixture evenly in the pie crust. Pour the cream mixture over the shrimp and top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the pie is set and the top is golden brown.
- Allow the pie to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the shrimp mixture.
- Substitute crab meat or lobster for the shrimp for a luxurious twist on this pie.
