Description

Florida Shrimp Pie is a delicious seafood dish featuring shrimp, corn, and a creamy filling baked in a pie crust.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup corn kernels (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and diced bell pepper, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
  4. Add the shrimp, corn, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until the shrimp turn pink, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, eggs, and lemon juice until well combined.
  6. Spread the shrimp mixture evenly in the pie crust. Pour the cream mixture over the shrimp and top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the pie is set and the top is golden brown.
  8. Allow the pie to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the shrimp mixture.
  • Substitute crab meat or lobster for the shrimp for a luxurious twist on this pie.
