Description

Florida Shrimp Pie is a delicious seafood dish featuring shrimp, corn, and cheese baked in a flaky pie crust.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced (any color)
  • 1 cup corn kernels (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the shrimp, corn, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and eggs until well combined. Stir in the shrimp mixture and half of the cheddar cheese.
  5. Pour the shrimp filling into the pie crust. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the pie is set and the top is golden brown.
  7. Allow the pie to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a diced jalapeño to the shrimp mixture.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream and use a whole wheat pie crust.
