Description
Florida Shrimp Pie is a delicious seafood dish featuring shrimp, corn, and cheese baked in a flaky pie crust.
Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, diced (any color)
- 1 cup corn kernels (fresh or frozen)
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 large eggs
- 1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Add the shrimp, corn, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and eggs until well combined. Stir in the shrimp mixture and half of the cheddar cheese.
- Pour the shrimp filling into the pie crust. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the pie is set and the top is golden brown.
- Allow the pie to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a diced jalapeño to the shrimp mixture.
- For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream and use a whole wheat pie crust.
