Description
Fried Pickle Fritters are a delicious and easy-to-make snack that combines the tangy flavor of dill pickles with a crispy batter, perfect for dipping.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 1/2 cups dill pickle slices (drained and patted dry)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Ranch dressing (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then stir in the buttermilk until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
- Gently fold in the dill pickle slices until they are evenly coated with the batter.
- In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
- Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the batter-coated pickles into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the fritters for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with ranch dressing for dipping, if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the batter.
- Try using different types of pickles, such as spicy or bread-and-butter, for a unique flavor twist.
