Description

Garbage Bread is the ultimate comfort food, filled with cheese and assorted fillings, all wrapped in delicious pizza dough.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup assorted fillings (pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, or any leftovers)
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Spread the ricotta cheese evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the ricotta layer.
  5. Add your assorted fillings on top of the cheese, spreading them out evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder over the fillings.
  7. Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Pinch the edges to seal.
  8. Place the rolled dough seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush the top of the dough with the beaten egg to give it a golden color when baked.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes to your fillings.
  • Experiment with different cheeses like cheddar or pepper jack for a unique flavor profile.
