Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh mushrooms (button or cremini), cleaned and sliced
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant but not browned.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and stir to coat them in the garlic butter.
- Cook the mushrooms for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and have released their moisture.
- Sprinkle in the thyme, salt, and pepper, and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- If using, drizzle the lemon juice over the mushrooms and stir well.
- Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes when sautéing the garlic.
- Substitute olive oil for butter for a dairy-free version, and add a splash of balsamic vinegar for extra flavor.
