Description

A quick and flavorful recipe for Genuine Chop Suey Delight, featuring tender chicken and crisp vegetables in a savory sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound boneless chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup celery, sliced
  • 1 cup bell pepper, sliced (any color)
  • 1 cup onion, sliced
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the celery, bell pepper, onion, bean sprouts, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry the vegetables for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, cornstarch, chicken broth, and sesame oil. Stir until the cornstarch is dissolved.
  4. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken and vegetables, stirring to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute the chicken with tofu or tempeh and use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
  • Add your favorite vegetables like mushrooms, carrots, or snap peas for extra flavor and nutrition.
