Description
Gochujang Cabbage Steaks are a flavorful and healthy dish made by roasting cabbage steaks with a spicy gochujang sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 head of green cabbage
- 3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- Slice the cabbage into 1-inch thick steaks. You should get about 4-6 steaks from the head of cabbage.
- In a small bowl, mix together the gochujang, olive oil, honey (or maple syrup), soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Place the cabbage steaks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush both sides of each steak generously with the gochujang mixture.
- Roast the cabbage steaks in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are tender and slightly charred.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, try adding a teaspoon of smoked paprika to the gochujang mixture.
- If you prefer a milder dish, reduce the amount of gochujang or mix it with a bit of plain yogurt before brushing it on the cabbage.
