Description

Gochujang Cabbage Steaks are a flavorful and healthy dish made by roasting cabbage steaks with a spicy gochujang sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 head of green cabbage
  • 3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. Slice the cabbage into 1-inch thick steaks. You should get about 4-6 steaks from the head of cabbage.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the gochujang, olive oil, honey (or maple syrup), soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Place the cabbage steaks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush both sides of each steak generously with the gochujang mixture.
  5. Roast the cabbage steaks in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are tender and slightly charred.
  6. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For a smoky flavor, try adding a teaspoon of smoked paprika to the gochujang mixture.
  • If you prefer a milder dish, reduce the amount of gochujang or mix it with a bit of plain yogurt before brushing it on the cabbage.
